I like the idea that Marg will be back for the 300th episode. Wonder if they asked WP? Since they are going back to the beginning does this mean that it was one of Catherine's cases or is it going to be a case that we the viewers know nothing about and will we get a mention or two or flashback of Warrick?

I'm kind of excited about this, it will be good to see Catherine again. Maybe we'll get some action between her and Vartann
I love the idea that they are going back to the beginning on this. The case intrigues me, the first thing I thought of was Abracadavre. They never did completely solve that one, or find Zephyr. But more than likely that would be too obvious and why would they want to tie up a loose end when they can just create another.
I would love to see Grissom show up, but only if they are going to fix GSR. If not I will be too angry at them & him to enjoy his presence.
I do believe they are going to fix GSR though. Because why else would the writers intentionally have GSR mugs in every single photo of themselves they've posted on Twitter lately?

Even though there are going to be flashbacks, I'm thinking it's not a case we actually saw. This was in an article on msn.com this morning: Catherine will return during a Season 14, Oct. 23 episode to help the team solve a cold case that has been haunting them for more than a decade. Packed with flashbacks, the episode will revisit the show's beginnings, as the team investigates the murder of a reclusive former casino mogul, who was a suspect in a similar case 13 years ago.As for Catherine and Vartann, that ship has sailed. Catherine made her choice and Vartann does indeed "deserve more" like she told him in their last episode together. With several appearances by a new detective this season, I'm not optimistic at all that Vartann will be in this episode. Maybe Catherine will ask about him, and we'll find out he put in for a transfer to East Osh Kosh.

You're probably right about the Cath/Vartann ship having sailed, but a girl can have hope can't she? Mostly I just want to see Vartann. Just because Catherine's gone doesn't mean they had to get rid of Det. Vartann too.
I think I read somewhere that Catherine's appearance will also help explain Nick's forthcoming absence. Not sure where I read it, or if it was even a reliable source.
