Jim Brass was written out of the Season 15 story it seems. For me his no nonsense way he handled his job was the best. He didn't put up with the glamor and the weird things that seem to go on in Vegas. Yes his home life was a shambles but he was so dedicated to his job.
I heard that he wanted to cut back on his work schedule. We had seen him miss some episodes over the last couple years. But then it seems the show fired him after this season.
His replacement. First pick that comes to mind is Detective Kevin Crawford(Alimi Ballard who played David Sinclair on "Numb3rs". And a short story arc on "NCIS"). He was on when Brass was off.
Will they bring back Detective Lou Vartann(Alex Carter), who seemed to leave soon after Catherine Willows left? I liked Lou.
One I'd like to see but probably can't happen is Detective Don Flack(Eddie Cahill) from "CSI:NY." But Cahill is on "Under the Dome". Maybe he wouldn't work as well with Nick,Sara and Russell as he did with Mac,Sheldon and Danny. But his fellow Detective Jaimie Lavato(Natalie Martinez) also is on "Under The Dome". Or maybe Detective Frank Tripp(Rex Linn) could transfer from Miami? I didn't like Vartann as much as I did Brass. But he had a few years there so why not bring him back?
Also I would think if CSI lasts only a couple more years(well we have no idea) why not keep Brass on? Even if you reduce him to half episodes? Sometimes now we only see Sara or Nick or Greg on a 1 or 2 scene and Morgan, Fin and Russel handle the COTW. Other weeks it is reversed. It's not great, but it is better then gone totally. If you went between Brass, Vartann and Crawford you could have all on a lot less. Or have Crawford on almost weekly and the other 2 on when they can??Or some weeks we hear" Brass and Crawford just brought in the suspect" Then you have Nick sit in with Crawford on the interrogation and later when they discuss it they could say," Brass thinks so too", or something! So it was like Jim was watching the interrogation through the 2 way mirror or on closed circuit tv.
Moving it to 10pm Sundays for next season would make you think they are trying to kill it off. Same as they have tried with The Mentalist. I know a network you wouldn't think would try to kill off one of it's shows, but it is all a money game. Not popularity like the old days.
I also remember CBS having its "Cancel the Hick(Andy Griffith, Gomer Pyle,Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies) shows and bring in more urban shows" in the 70's, and again in the 90's "drop the old actors(Nash Bridges) and bring in the youth shows. So who knows. But they are all solid performers, so keep them!
I can't think of the name of the episode, but it was the one where the lab rats(Henry, Hodges, Wendy, Archie etc.) did a big chunk of the case solving. I liked seeing them working together. I wouldn't mind seeing it happen again. I know Wendy and Archie(miss them both), have left the show but they could make it work. We have seen the rest of the crew doing their tests in the lab, but that time to me was special.
I wonder if now with Catherine's show(Intelligence) cancelled if we will see her again? I at first thought maybe a case about her daughter, but we have seen that done with Jim Brasses daughter. We do hear about Grissom once in awhile and I doubt we will see him again on the show but it would be nice. I am curious to see if he and Sarah will beak up? If so I believe she and Nick would make a good couple. They have been friends for years. It shouldn't be a "we broke up 3 weeks ago lets date". But slowly see them getting closer? I think it would be great. But they can also do the story line that Mr. and Mrs. Grissom work things out too.
Also would like to hear or see sometimes about Dr. Ray Langston. He was a part of the team. If not a guest appearance we should at least hear about him, like we do Grissom.

Sunday nights are the kiss of death for television shows. CSI Miami had solid ratings before they moved it to Sunday.
I would love to see Alex Carter again as Det. Vartann but he probably isn't available.
I am going to miss Brass so much. Probably even more than i ever missed Grissom.
I also wish they would sometimes mention Ray. I just have to believe that he and Gloria got back together and are happy.
It would also be nice if we sometimes heard Nick, Sara, or Greg say that they talked to Catherine. Wishful thinking on my part I know.

09-28-14 "The CSI effect" 15.01 First off, is there a 3rd brother?? And how did they fake the missing finger on the actor? Paul leaving the same print on the table in the diner had to be the guy?? And him talking to one of the missing girls is no coincidence. The Gig Harbor killer, that was before we met Russell and Finley I guess. When they worked in Seattle. So he followed them to Vegas? It seems to be either Jared Briscoe(in jail) / Paul Winthrop, separated twin at birth, that hardly got interrogated. Or some how Mark Turner got a hold of Briscoe's finger? You have to see if any one is with explosive experience. Turner maybe the copy cat killer. Unless Briscoe covered for someone?
All the missing girls, and the one guy, makes me think there is something to the story behind the guy? Was he mistreated in his youth? Fin and Detective Daniel Shaw an old bf make out in his car. Then he is ofcourse after the same guy. Well looking for one of the missing girls. Yes I don't see them bring Jared Briscoe to Vegas. Ecklie must have some pull.
Nice that they talked about Jim Brass, but I miss him already. Is nice to see all of the rest of team, except no Henry, only talked about.

Just a short reply to say how much i liked this episode. With the ebola outbreak I thought the episode was perfect timing with showing the importance of containment and isolation when it comes to something this deadly. Good job CSI
Am I the only one that thinks that there is some big secret going on between Sara and DB? Sara's strange looks to DB as they were leading her and Greg out of the house and then the strange looks that Sara had on her face when Greg was talking to his Grandmother and then when DB came to see Sara and Greg and she said that she wanted him to do something for her if she and Greg died but then DB cut her off and said that he forbids either one of them to die. Am I reading to much into those looks?

I don't know about DB and Sara. Sara has had problems with Grissom, and I believe they are separated. But they kind of let that story slip. i would rather have her be with Nick and then Greg as 2nd choice if she does divorce Grissom. But we see DB has a happy and understanding wife for the most part. He seems very happy. maybe there is something between them and it has nothing to do with sex?

10-05-14 "Buzz Kill" 15.02 Julie Finley headed to Seattle to get more info. on the case from last week. Trying to figure out about The Gig Harbor/Briscoe/Winthrop case. You know something will happen. But both for some reason are in Vegas?? 10-05-14 "Buzz Kill" 15.02 10-05-14 "Buzz Kill" 15.02 Julie Finley headed to Seattle to get more info. on the case from last week. COTW Kidnapping pot house family for ransom. Nick Stokes definitely was not into the legal sales of Pot. I first suspected Lloyd Bryant the owner. Even the Inept Security Guard was on my list. I did early to suspect the kidnapped wife Dina. Because other then SVU, most of times they are suspects. "I don't love him anymore, he has money I can't touch". That kind of motive. Remi Volero the bookie was a suspect also. It was kind of a twisted story line which is good, and even Allison had gotten help from Calvin Reynolds. To twist it more. But Dina said Stuart put her up to it and she tried to bribe D.B. Russell to let it all go. Sarah stated at one time,"Codus for Cannibus". I did not really expect Allison Ball's(the woman shot trying to get the ransom)brother, Stuart for a while. But he was a numbers runner in past and Volero had given them the gun. But then he was gone.

10-12-14 "Bad Blood" 15.03 Sarah and Greg exposed to Hemorrhagic fever. Seems like a few series have plague on their minds this season. And it coincides with the Ebola scare. They being kept in isolation, but could play chess and help with case on laptops.
Russell telling Greg and Sara they can't die on him was a good concerned friends line. Greg said it was a good "Motivation for a Vacation!" Good (but not as realistic) that Greg and Sara lived, but Sean Stubens died. Guess Sara and Greg were caught sooner. Nice hug at end. I would have thought when Sara fainted, that someone would have been watching too. Or atleast on cam.
Fin working still in Seattle, doesn't seem like she is figuring out much stuff there.
I guess the Dr. messed up by telling the families the sickness was not so bad. That let it spread by not having enough precautions. They took their families home to treat. First victim Jack Weaver was one of the doctors there. Then Mitch and Nick find Sean Stubens infected. Maybe move Mitch up to Jim Brasse's position? They think that Jack Weaver infected himself? But a photo shows lawyer Rudy Adelia was in Bolivia. He infected Jack Weaver with the stolen vial from Dr. Heather Lanning. Rudy's family had died there. They had lied and covered up the stats on the deaths. Dr. Lanning knew more then she told. She was a suspect but was not the killer.

10-19-14 "The Book of Shadow" 15.04 David Hodges seemed to get into the Pagan/Wicca theme. Greg did not, he played it like a joke. Nick actually played it kinda cool and didn't joke about it to much. But it wasn't like it was some kook playing Dracula or a witch. It was the Wiccan rituals. Yes the pentagram is protection. Nice to see Detective Kevin Crawford. He, like Brass, works well with Nick. But Nick works well with Officer "Mitch" Mitchell too. But I miss Jim Brass a lot!! Magic not Meth! Wicca saved Ed.
The video taken by Mason Brewer at beginning showed all the suspects. We had Teacher Chet Messner being set on fire,(toast). Ofcourse I suspected the jock, Rob "Turk" Turkla, but then he ended up swimming(not well). Then it was Janitor Ed Lusk, (he was a recognizable actor). Then I thought the "it" girl, Hanna Hunt, who turned out to be a sweet girl. I didn't until later suspect "To nice voiced, and QB lover Principal Dawn Meadows or Mason's mother Rebecca. she hid it real well. Even when interrogated, Dawn was nicey nice until Russell pressed. Greg got to do the punch line again, Looks like Messner did the wrong thing and got burned!". But we find that Chet made steroids, and Turk owed him money for them. Chet talked about Wiccan club outside of school. Principal Meadows loved Turk and her hubby was seeing stripper Tangerine. Hanna Hunt had been raped by Turk, and Lusk had put a curse on Morgan. Think I covered it all, lol.
Greg and Morgan found in the janitors closet a,"alter to the cleaning gods!" lol.
Julie Finley is back in town, and only thing we saw on Gig Harbor was Russell looking over the evidence board one more time. We find at end that Mason needs chemo. He may have 6 months to live. Mom is in jail for murder. Not totally sure why she did it? Hanna's family lets Mason live with them. Big Hug!
No Ecklie, Henry or Sara? Does it seem that David Hodges and Henry Andrews aren't in the same episodes yet this season? Seems they each have been in 2. But we have seen little of the lab rats this year. Maybe they are cutting back on screen time. Same reason they let Jim Brass go, he had wanted to cut back on his episodes for his family. But Detective Kevin Crawford has also only been in 2 episodes, as of the 4th episode this season. So Jim could have been in the other 2? Even Sara Sidle has missed a couple episodes

12-14-14 "Dead Rails" 15.10 I thought it was odd to have to interview the hit and run driver, Mary Haymond. She was all upset and Crawford had to interview her at the station. Nice to see Detective Kevin Crawford. No Henry Andrews. Nick and Sara were not to active. Nick was on early, and Sara near end. Greg was though out most of it. I'd rather see Nick, Sara and Greg work though most of episode, and to a lesser extent Morgan, Russell and Finley. Hodges, Henry, Doc and Super Dave only because they work behind the scenes mostly. Yes everyone should have a centric episode. I think Crawford should be on more same as Brass was. And Eckley should be more constant. Conrad Ecklie should have been here for this case. Then when Mary Haymond and Elise Messy, talked about knowing people in high places he could have slapped it down. But D. B. did alright on his own. Also Jim Brass could have taken care of that also. At least with a snappy come back.
I was surprised that Mary Haymond shot Jimmy Turelli, dragged im to her trunk, buried in sand and then later runs him over?? Yes she must have been driving around, or the distance between the spot along the service road and the road she was on was longer then to dig self out and walk cross country and get hit? It was nice that Jimmy got clean and religious in prison. To bad his Pool Hall wasn't clean, and The new owner Hayward had to have her cheaters and hussies to keep it going. Morgans line, "DNA corner pocket!" was funny, when she talked about the ice cube ball rolling through the blood. .
I thought that hustler Calvin Tate did it at first. "Bobbles, fetch me a beer!" How he treated Zoe Tate his wife. But her hustling men for sex wasn't cool either. He was quite sure of himself. Jim Brass would have put him in his place. Det. Crawford's to nice. But he did notice that Zoe had been beaten. Calvin had a chip in his hat. So Zoe was looking for it? So Jimmy found the drive in Zoe's purse and called her out on it. That was after Calvin and her hustled them. Seems the 3 women, Mary Haymond, Zoe Tate, and Elise Massy ran the show, and Jimmy Tuelli and Calvin Tate were just pawns. Did Zoe actually kill Calvin, or have it done?
Thought the champagne glass pool would be a bit messy and a big waste. But thought when Morgan and Hodges started to play that he was good and she didn't know it. My thought would have been DB though. He spent many years in a pool bar, lol .

12-21-14 "Angle Of Attack" 15.11 The rocket man line was interesting and to me but a bit far fetched. The offices of Bradley Weeks and the smash in and smash out must have been rough and then the body dump of Weeks in the street. That had to be a major surprise to him. The Chevy Astro Taxi with the back door blasted open and the body in the back was like wow! The Taxi Driver played on Fast Times At Ridgemont High and Booker in the 1980's. Amanda Holland telling Russell infront of Mills that Bobbie didn't take risks. Then after Mills leaves telling him he does and she'd like it investigated. That seemed strange. But don't we call NCIS if we have a Air-force death?
Captain Jack Ferris in interrogation and he then zoning out and having a stroke was quite strong and well played. The reason they thought the one rocket man (Captain Robert Holland)was having and affair with his boss ,Claudia Mason,it first was leased in her name. It was also that they had a video of him coming to the suite floor off the elevator and I believe his wife Amanda, coming and they argued. Then ofcourse semen was found in the bed and they put 2 and 2 together. It ofcourse didn't turn out to be him, but for awhile they thought he was having that affair with her. We find it is Mills who Holland was in bed with. Bobbie was dumping him. Not the ending I thought we'd get. But plausible. I liked when D. B. Russell told Mrs. Hollands what happened and he admitted he used to keep secrets from his wife. I wonder what that is?
I didn't for most of the episode suspect Major Bernard Mills as the man behind the rockets going bad. But maybe him not wanting to give Russell the black box codes may have been a clue?
Nice to see Detective Kevin Crawford. I miss Jim Brass big time, but Kevin is good.

12-28-14 "Dead Woods" 15.12 First we get Abby Fisher and bf Slade confronted in an alley by a bum with a gun and Slade fights with him and shoots him. Abby then remembers as Slade runs off, scenes from her own families brutal murder. He must have been there to score drugs. I did like how later when he was brought in for questioning that Sara pushed him against the wall and warned him to stay away from Abby. "You saw that didn't you?" he told the Officer, and he replied that he saw nothing. Lol. Later I thought on an outside chance he was the one who shot suspected murderer Donald Wraith in his old Dodge truck. But like with the father, Barry Fisher, it was made to look like a suicide. Also how would Slade have found out? I didn't see the cell phone magically switch hands from Slade back to Abby,as was pointed out . It was interesting that she recognized same smell, from 10 years ago.
I liked Officer Andy Akers, and if Det. Crawford or Officer Mitch aren't there, he is a good choice. Maybe make Mitch a CSI after Nick leaves. Or better yet a Detective to replace Jim Brass.
Tori Spellings hubby Dean McDermott as the molester Garth Fogel still looks good. But I only for a minute thought he was involved. Nick pushed him well to break him. I thought when he stood up, Nick was going to knock him back in his seat. But probably with Officers around, he thought better of it then to confront Nick. But Hannah the youngest was his daughter.
Well Mrs.Kathy Fisher did look good. But I would think that Randy Pruitt could get his own women and not have to rape campers. The bearded Donald Wraith did look more like a guy that strikes out more, or is to into his alone time to try to date. But after Wraith was found dead, and my other options were implausible, Slade killing him to get back on Abby's good side, but he would be to weak. Or Abby herself, I even thought foster mom, Joanna Higgins, but how would they know? I figured it had to be Randy Pruitt.
I thought at end when Barry Fisher was cleared as the murderer/suicide, that Sara would set up the funeral Abby missed. I did like Abby and Joanna happy with Sara's findings and happy as a family. It was nice that Sara talked to Greg about her father. Maybe if Nick is leaving then Greg will get closer to her.

11-09-14 "Girls Gone Wilder" 15.05 Finally after 2 weeks away it made it! This is the 2nd time,(11-27-13 "Girls Gone Wild" 14.09),the 3 girls have gone on a girls weekend and had problems. This time it is for seminars too. Fin runs into someone she knows. He is Mark Perlow (Jimmy Olsen on Lois & Clark)and they are trapped in an elevator. He is wounded by the first gunman. But I thought he had something to do with it all. But glad he didn't. This time we had 2 killers for 2 different reasons. That is why we saw 2 guys loading guns at same time then the sniper was alone. I liked that SWAT went through the Motel looking for the suspects, instead of Jim Brass(miss him), Nick and Sara. The 2nd shooter, Cliff Ballard the ex CSI looked suspicious in the hallway, next to the dead body. Former CSI and friend of Morgan,Vicki is murdered. Ballard had tampered with evidence. Sara and Linda Cage was on the team. He was after her too. Sara tried to talk him out of it and SWAT shot him. Dr. Jane Snyder seemed to be playing like a tv star. When Sara talked to her about the dancers being killed and it was her fault partly, she didn't care.
COTW Barrel soup Russell says,"It looks like someone is missing goop man here."Paul Carson Security Guard is the body. Jeff Lasky's family was murdered and he wanted revenge on Snyder and others. Luke Reecer had killed the Laskey's. They didn't handle the investigation to his satisfaction. At end both Sara and Morgan felt so bad. Sara helped her wash the blood off her hands. They had a big hug in locker room. Not sure how often the girls go away, but maybe they should think twice next time.
